The Government has nominated Dr. Girija Vyas as the new Chairperson of the National Commission for Women (NCW). She will hold office for a period of three years from the date of assumption of charge of office or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Dr. Vyas replaces Dr. Poornima Advani who demitted office after the completion of her tenure on January 24, 2005.
