DEATH SENTENCE GIVEN TO ACCUSED FOR COMMITTING THE MURDERS OF SIX MEMBERS OF THE FAMILY

The Special Judge for CBI Cases-I, Ernakulam has convicted one Antony @ Antappan for having committed the multiple murders of one Augustin, his wife Baby, son Jessmon, daughter Divya, mother Clara and sister Kochurani and awarded death sentence for committing the crime. The Judge found the accused guilty U/s 302 IPC and awarded him death penalty, found him guilty U/s 449 IPC and awarded him to undergo life imprisonment and found him guilty U/s 379 and 380 IPC and awarded him seven years imprisonment and awarded five years imprisonment for having committed the offence U/s 201 IPC. CBI undertook the investigation of the multipe murder case of the six members of the family who were residents of Aluva, Ernakulam on the intervening night of 6/1/2001 at their residence, on the orders of High Court of Kerala.

The High Court had ordered for the investigation of the case by an officer of the rank of Superintendent of Police and acordingly the then S.P, CBI, SCB, Chennai, Shri G.Venkataraman registered the case and investigated it with the assistance of Dy.S.P. Shri V.T.Nandakumar and S.I. Shri Gopakumar.On competion of the investigation, a charge-sheet was filed against Antony who was a distant relative of Augustin u/s 449, 302, 379, 380 and 201 IPC. Brain Finger Printing technique was utilised in this case to confirm the culpability of the accused. After completion of the trial, the Judge found Shri Antony, guilty of all the charged offences and convicted him on 2.2.2005.
