The new diesel locomotives and guard’s brake vans are being provided with crew friendly loco pilot (driver’s) cab and brake vans. The existing diesel locos and brake vans, during periodic overhaul, are being fitted with such comforts.
Fatigue enhances vulnerability of Loco Pilots (Drivers) and Guards to cause accidents. Improvement in the working conditions of such staff to reduce their fatigue level on run is, therefore, a priority area for Indian Railways.
Several improvements have been standardized and are being incorporated in a phased manner in Loco Pilot’s cab and Guard’s brake van to make the working environment of crew better to improve their efficiency.
