CBI ARRESTS TWO FOR SELLING PIRATED SOFTWARES, CONDUCTS SEARCHES IN SEVERAL PLACES OF DELHI

CBI has registered a case U/s 120-B r/w 420, 468, 471 IPC and Section 63 of the Copy Right Act, 1957 against the Directors of a Software Company of West Patel Nagar,New Delhi for indulging in import of pirated Miscrosoft Softwares in India and selling it to the public in general as original softwares through various vendors located in Nehru Place, Dwarka, Hari Nagar localities of Delhi. These persons are also using fake Certificate of Authenticity (COA) stickers obtained from a Software Company from Nehru Place, New Delhi. In this connection, two accused persons have been arrested.

After registering the case, CBI conducted searches at 16 business/residential premises of the accused persons today. Searches have resulted in seizure of 311 pirated CDs containing Miscrosoft Windows 98/2000/Xp/Professional Operating System Softwares and about 700 fake COA stickers worth about Rs.25 lakh. The illegal sale of these pirated imported software has caused huge loss to the Govt. Further investigation
