CBI REGISTERS CASE AGAINST SENIOR IPS OFFICER FOR POSSESSION OF DISPROPORTIONATE ASSETS:

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a case against a Deputy Inspector General of Police (IPS-83 batch of Manipur-Tripura Cadre) under section 13(2) r/w 13(1) (e) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 for possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The officer was till last week posted as DIG, CRPF Group Centre, Hyderabad and is presently under orders of transfer.

Investigation by CBI revealed that the official has acquired assets worth about Rs. 1.07 crore including a three-storey house in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad, a four-storey house in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad, four flats in Hyderabad (two in Somajiguda, one in Amerpet and one in Begumpet), a house in Vanasthalipuram Residential Complex, Ranga Reddy district, 12 acres of farm land in Ranga Reddy dist. and 3 plots in Hyderabad (two in Banjara Hills and one in Jubilee Hills locality).

Searches are being conducted in three different premises of the official in Hyderabad today. 16 Bank accounts, three locker keys and incriminating documents have been unearthed during the searches which are continuing. The lockers are yet to be opened.
