Merit trophies were also awarded to 13 institutions for standing first in their respective Groups. After distributing the prizes, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Urban Development, Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad said that Indian Parliamentary Democracy has withstood several trials and tribulations to emerge as a vibrant and vigorous system which even the hardcore terrorists failed to shake during the attack on parliament building. “Let it be clear, there is no place for violence in a democracy and our culture values evolution and not revolution”, he added. Shri Azad also said that undemocratic means adopted by some people to seek solutions need to be rendered irrelevant in parliamentary system. “Social changes are gradual and are achieved through discussions and persuasion, not through violence or other unconstitutional means”, the Minister added.
