All India Council for Technical Education today put up on its official website the complete list of proposed new Technical Institutions which have been issued Letter of Intent (LOI) for the year 2005-06. These include Engineering Colleges, MBA/MCA, Colleges of Pharmacy, Hotel Management etc. The website also displays a complete list of those institutions which have not yet been found suitable for issue of LOI on account of their failure to comply with the norms and standards prescribed by the Council for opening of new colleges. The Council has passed speaking orders in every such case outlining the reasons on the basis of which the proposal has been found deficient.
Such institutions have been given an opportunity to appeal against the decision by 28th February, 2005.
This is the first time that AICTE has publicly displayed this information and put it up in the public domain on a website ahead of the schedule as indicated in the National Calendar. This has been done with a view to ensure that there is no trade in information and there is complete transparency.
Out of the total 768 applications received by the Council for setting up new technical institutions, LOI have been issued in 167 cases only. This year the largest number of applications have been received in Pharmacy that is 298 and out of them 75 have been issued LOI.
