The Union Cabinet today approved the proposal of absorption of Group ‘A’ officers belonging to Indian Telecom Service, P&T Accounts and Finance Service and others in BSNL and MTNL. The absorption of Group ‘B’, ‘C’ and ‘D’ category of employees has already taken place. With the absorption of Group ‘A’ officers, the process of allocating requisite personnel to MTNL and BSNL and the corporatisation of these PSUs will be complete. The career path of the staff would be envisioned in PSUs and any ambiguity arising from the aspirations to protect the features of the government department, its organisational framework and work culture would be discouraged.
