Mumbai: The Western and Central Railways have announced
special Christmas trains to Ahmedabad, in order to clear
the celebration-time rush. These special trains will
run between Bandra and Ahmedabad on the Western route
and between Pune and Ahmedabad on the Central line.
The trains include AC-two tier, AC-three tier, second-class
sleeper as well as general class coaches.
The Central Railway (CR) bookings for the special trains
between Pune and Ahmedabad began today. The special
bi-weekly trains will connect the two cities from December
19 to December 30, 2005. The train (number 0196) from
Pune will hit the tracks on Mondays and Thursday at
7.40 pm and reach Ahmedabad at 8.50 am the next morning.
Whereas, the train (number 0195) will depart from Ahmedabad
on Tuesday and Friday at 4 pm and arrive at Pune at
4.45 am the next day. It will make stops at Lonavla,
Kalyan, Vasai Road, Valsad, Surat, Baruch, Vadodra and
Anand, both ways.
Meanwhile, the Western Railway will run the special
trains connecting Bandra and Ahmedabad, thrice a week
on Saturday, Monday and Thursday from December 24, 2005
to January 7, 2006. The train (number 4845A) will leave
Ahmedabad at 3.50 am and arrive at Bandra at 11.45 am
on the same day. The train towards Ahmedabad (number
4846A), is scheduled to start from Bandra at 12.50 pm
and get to the destination at 9.40 pm. It will halt
at Vadodra, Surat and Borivali both ways. Bookings on
the Western line open tomorrow, December 15, 2005.
