Even as the BJP central parliamentary board meets
today to discuss fresh disciplinary action against suspended
leader Uma Bharti, the firebrand leader alleged the
party chief leadership of being incapable of carrying
out basic responsibilities.
As BJP central parliamentary board meets here tomorrow
to discuss fresh disciplinary action against her amidst
hints that her expulsion was on the cards, Bharti shot
off a letter to party chief L K Advani in reply to the
November 30 show cause notice saying the party suffered
from "infection and seems to be caught up in the
cobweb of power politics".
"Sychophancy, shrewdness and intrigue are increasingly
taking prominence in the party. It is now being felt
that the BJP leadership is incapable of carrying out
its basic political responsibilities involving hardcore
nationalism, social equality, love for thepoor and the
deprived, idealism and purity," she alleged.
Charging "resentment" in BJP is more today
when it has 137 MPs than what it was in 1984 when it
had just two, Bharti recalled Jan Sangh founder Deen
Dayal Upadhayay's comments that the Sangh would create
its new political wings if existing ones became corrupt
and said "time has come to set up such a mechanism."
Her reply to the show cause notice apart, Bharti used
a press conference at Raisen in her home state Madhya
Pradesh to launch a fresh attack on BJP leadership alleging
the party, its chief L K Advani and former Prime Minister
Atal Bihari Vajpayee were held hostage by a group of
"terrrorist hijacker leaders who are devoid of
ideology and principles."
