Mumbai: The much awaited meeting between Shiv Sena
supreme Bal Thackeray and estranged nephew, Raj Thackeray
took place at the former's Bandra residence, Matoshree
on Thursday. Former Lok Sabha speaker and senior Sena
leader, Manohar Joshi, was also present at the meeting
that lasted for over an hour.
A visibly unconvinced Raj Thackeray, who later spoke
to the media, refused to detail the conversation. Raj,
however, dashed all anticipations of an agreeable solution
to the problem that is facing the Shiv Sena since Raj
has made public, his disagreements with cousin Uddhav.
Raj, who had quit from all the posts in the Sena on
November 27, had alleged that the party was being run
by a "coterie of petty clerks who know nothing
about politics". He referred to Joshi as a "well
wisher" of the party. Raj Thackeray declared that
he had never declined to meet his uncle, Bal Thackeray
but was waiting for the call. "As soon as I received
the request to discuss the issue, I went to Matoshree,"
he said.
Prior to the meeting with Bal Thackeray, Sena leaders
had offered Raj a new "equal-power" plan to
end the bitterness among the cousins. The possibility
of the success of the new power plan however, looks
bleak at the moment. Uddhav Thackeray was not present
at the meeting.
Parinda Bureau adds: Parinda learns that among the
first conditions of Raj during his 10 minutes meeting
was sacking of `the coterie of three` he has described
as karkoon and badvas. This was not acceptable to the
Sena Supremo.
