Mumbai: A speeding tempo ran into into some slums near Reay Road station and toppled over at 11 am on Thursday morning, in the process, destroying two houses, killing two persons and injuring three others. The injured include two children.

The dead include Laxmi Jadhav (62) and fisherman Shaukat Ali (35) who died on the spot. Laxmi Jadhav's grandson Rajesh (13), who was in the house when the accident took place, sustained minor head injuries.

The tempo driver managed to climb out of his vehicle unharmed and tried to escape. However, residents of the area chased him and managed to hand him over to the police.
