Sonia Gandhi to launch MMRDA program for slum-dwellers

Mumbai: Congress President Sonia Gandhi will launch the Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority’s (MMRDA) rehabilitation program for slum-dwellers in Mumbai on December 20.The program plans to allot 60,000 flats, made under a special program, to the slum-dwellers.
 
The program is scheduled to be held at Mankurd Link Road near Chembur. Sonia Gandhi is the chairperson of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) at the Center and the President of the Congress Party that has a coalition government in Maharashtra.
 
Others who are expected to be present at the program are Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, Revenue Minister Narayan Rane, State Congress Chief Prabha Rau, AICC General Secretary Margaret Alva and Mumbai Regional Congress Committee (MRCC) President Gurudas Kamat.
