Mumbai: Famed Industrialist Vijaypat Singhania was
sworn in as the new Sheriff of Mumbai at the Darbar
Hall of the Raj Bhavan on Monday.
Maharashtra Governor SM Krishna administered the oath
of office on Monday morning. Also present at the swearing
in ceremony were Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao
Deshmukh, the Cabinet ministers and other senior officials.
Singhania had recently made news when he set, in his
name, a world record for flying a hot air balloon at
the world’s highest altitude.
Dr. Vijaypat Singhania is an honorary PhD from the London
Institute of Technology and Research and also the Chairman
Emeritus of Raymond Ltd. He is a keen aviator and is
also involved in several social welfare organizations.
