One Laxmibai Narayankar (69) staying alone in a Bungalow
at Model Town, Mulund west was found murdered on Saturday
night. The body was found by her daughter with her throat
slit.
Preliminary reports indicate robbery to be the motive.
Gold ornaments worth Rs.37,500 were found missing..
The police have not ruled out the possibility of it
being an inside job. Model Town colony consisting of
primarily bungalows has good security arrangements.
The police is trying to determine if the victim had
any visitors on Saturday.
The victim's daughter, Meena Ramesh (43), is the complainant
in the case. Meena Ramesh, residing at Korakhairane
came to the came to her mother's home on Saturday evening.
On finding no response to her repeated door bells, she
tried calling from outside and then got in touch with
her brother who lives in Chembur. With the aid of a
duplicate key, she entered the house, to find her mother
in a pool of blood in the toilet. Her throat had been
split with a knife and the cupboards ransacked. The
police will be questioning the domestic servants and
watchmen and have taken fingerprints from the scene.
