With just two days to go before the second cricket
Test against Sri Lanka at his home ground, the Ferozeshah
Kotla, Virender Sehwag has taken ill.
Sources said Virender, who missed the Indian team's
morning practice session due to his illness, consulted
doctors at the Gangaram hospital for what was being
described as a routine check-up but had to be admitted
to the hospital after he complained of throat infection
and bodyache.
"It was decided to put him under observation for
the next 24-48 hours after which he could be discharged,''
Dr S P Byotra, Senior Consultant, Department of Medicine,
at the hospital is quoted as having said.
Apart from bodyache, Sehwag is also apparently having
problems swallowing.
Indian team media manager Wg Cdr Baladitya called it
fever.
On being asked if the Delhi batsman would be fit and
available for practice on Friday, Baladitya said "Hopefully.
We have to see."
