Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was arrested yesterday
after his Land cruiser ran into a boy crossing the road.
Saif was driving the SUV near the Bharatiya Vidya
Bhawan's college at around 6 pm. Police sources said
the 13 year old boy, Shakil received minor injuries
as the vehicle was being driven at a slow speed.
Saif rushed the boy to a private hospital where he was
treated for minor injuries. Thereafter he informed the
DN Nagar police station of the accident. He was subsequently
arrested and then released on bail of Rs.5,000
Khan had to undergo a medical examination to find out
alcohol content since he was behind the wheel. The report
established that there was no alcohol in the blood.
He was granted bail at around 1.30 am and was asked
to visit the police station in the morning to complete
formalities. However since he didn't show up the police
moved the Andheri court and informed that the actor
had not completed formalities regarding the bail.
The court has adjourned the hearing of the case till
December 12. Meanwhile, Saif it is learnt, visited the
police station at 4 pm. Saif claimed he wasn't aware
of the entire legal process and has given an assurance
that he will take care of all the medical requirements
of the boy.
