Mumbai: In an about turn, the girl who accused a man of raping her is now being hounded by the police and the `rapist` after he allegations were proved to be totally untrue with undisputed alibis.

The girl had accused Kamlesh Ahire, a resident of Charkop, of rape and abduction in her police complaint on September 17. She had claimed that she was picked up from a busy street by a gang of six boys, taken to a flat and raped by one of the boys. The police even arrested Ahire, who worked as an instructor in a Gorai gym. The girl and Ahire were supposed to be friends.

Ahire was in police custody when his family provided the alibi. He had participated in a bodybuilding contest on the same day and had won. They even produced photographs to prove it. It also turned out that the girl had spent the same hours with another friend hers one Santosh Kumar Sharma.

The police have made an application before the Borivli metropolitan court for permission to register a complaint against the 15-year-old schoolgirl who made the complaint, for pressing false charges of rape. If the case is found to be false, the girl could be prosecuted and could face up to six months of imprisonment.

In the meanwhile, Ahires are also filing a defamation suit against the girl.
