Refuting all rumours of hospitalised superstar Amitabh
Bachchan being replaced by his actor son Abhishek as
the anchor of the popular game show KBC2, STAR India
yesterday said the channel had no plans in this regard.
Bachchan will continue as the anchor of KBC2 and will
begin shooting of the game show after he recovers from
his illness, the channel clarified. “Our foremost
concern is the health of Amitabh Bachchan. We wish him
a speedy recovery,” Sameer Nair, Chief Operating
Officer of STAR India, said in a press release.
However, due to Bachchan’s absence, the channel
has made changes in the show’s schedule. It will
be broadcasting a programme capturing his special moments
with contestants on December 24 and 31.
Besides this, there will be no telecasting of the
show on Sundays, which will be replaced by the serial
Sai Baba, STAR India said.
Meanwhile Bachchan, who was shifted out of the ICU
a week after he underwent surgery for an intestinal
ailment, was been put on a semi-solid diet from yesterday,
Lilavati Hospital’s Dr. J. B. Agarwal said.
The team of doctors attending on the superstar will
take the decision on his discharge either today or tomorrow.
Bachchan is feeling absolutely well, the doctor said,
adding he can now talk and move normally although he
is feeling a little weak.
An insider reveals that Abhishek’s name was
discussed but rejected as the perception was that Abhishek
will not be able to hold the public interest. Big names
like Madhuri Dixit, Manisha Koirala and Anupam Kher
as well as Shekhar Suman have not been able to create
the magic Big B has created.
