Nine NGOs blacklisted

The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has recently blacklisted nine NGOs out of 2425 NGOs who were released grant-in-aid during 2004-05 for implementing schemes/programmes for welfare of Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes, persons with disabilities, elderly persons, children in need of care and protection, victims of alcoholism and substance abuse. The details of those NGOs who have been blacklisted are as follows:

Shantidoot (De-addiction Centre); Shri Damodaran (Hostel for SC students); Dr. B. R. Ambedkar De-addiction Centre (De-addiction Centre); Tapasvi Sewa Charitable Trust (De-addiction Centre); Talagarda Harijan Sahi Mahila Samiti (Steel furniture making training centre for SCs); Orissa Voluntary Association for Rural Socio Development (Residential school for SC students); Peoples Organisation of Orientation and Renvoation (Craft Training Centre for SCs); National Youth Service Action and Social Development Research Institute (Creche Centres for SC children) and Vishwa Jeevan Seva Sangha (Residential Schools, Craft Centre and Creche Centers for SCs).
