Andheri: Dr. Anjali Thakkar, a resident of Lokhandwala
Complex at Andheri committed suicide by hanging herself
from the ceiling fan of her residence On 5th December.
Dr Anjali ran her own clinic in Adarsh Nagar Oshiwara
while her husband Rajendra Thakkar had a clinic in Juhu
lane. The couple has two daughters and one son who is
mentally imbalanced. She was said to be depressed over
the state of her son and had tried killing herself twice
before. Her husband Rajendra said, "After the age
of 40, women go through menopause and often get depressing
thoughts due to hormonal changes."
Their first son too was mentally challenged and expired
at the age of eight.
One of her daughters is studying in Mithibai College
while the other is in school. Her son is also in a school.
Since theirs was a love marriage, the couple had differences
with Anjali's three brothers. The police have lodged
a complaint under Section 306. The case is being investigated
by Sanjay Pawar of Oshiwara police station.
