corruption cases against MTNL Officials

After registering three regular cases of corruption against eight MTNL officers and two private persons, CBI today conducted searches at the offices and residences of the public servants as well as the private persons. During the search, CBI recovered some incriminating documents which are under scrutiny of the Investigating agency.

The searches which started early today, were carried out at the offices of the Executive Engineer, MTNL, Rohini Division, Assistant Engineer, MTNL, Rohini, Assistant Engineer, MTNL, Shakti Nagar, Assistant Engineer, MTNL, Idgah, Executive Engineer, MTNL. Karkardooma Division and residential premises of the proprietor of a private builder, a Junior Engineer, MTNL, Rohini and AE/EE, MTNL, Rohini Division and the proprietor of a construction company.

CBI has registered three corruption cases against an Executive Engineer, Rohini Division, and Assistant Engineer, MTNL, Rohini Division, an Assistant Engineer/Executive Engineer, Rohini Division, a Junior Engineer, MTNL, Rohini Division and Accounts Officer (Cash), MTNL, Eastern Court and another Executive Engineer, MTNL, Idgah Division, an Assistant Engineer, MTNL, Idgah Division, a Sub-Divisional Clerk, MTNL, proprietor of a construction company and and proprietor of builder company on the allegation that they enter into criminal conspiracy with each other and prepared bogus bills for certain civil works to be carried out at Telephone Exchange buildings at Tis Hazari, Idgah and Rohini Division. They also passed bills amounting to Rs. 53.39 lakh, Rs. 50.81 lakh and Rs. 80.12 lakh whereas no work was carried out by the contractor resulting in loss to MTNL.

Further investigation is on.
