New Delhi: The BJP will stand by Bal Thackeray and his
Shiv Sena an ally for the last 20 years.
Party general secretary Pramod Mahajan said there would
be no change in the BJP's relationship with Shiv Sena
and would not have any truck with rebel Sena leader
Raj Thackeray who formally quit the party on Sunday.
BJP will not go with Raj Thackeray. “Raj has yet
to prove his strength. I do not see in the foreseeable
future any such possibility." Mahajan said.
The BJP leader from Maharashtra, however, described
the split in the Sena ranks as "unfortunate",
adding "there have been splits in the Sena in the
past, but this one is different. Raj is not a Chhagan
Bhujbal or a Narayan Rane. He was one of the family,
someone who was part of the family, someone who modeled
himself on his uncle; he was charismatic and even looked
like him. His departure is a blow to Sena."
