Shri Priyaranjan Dasmunsi, Honble Minister for Water Resources received a Cheque of Rs.140 lakh as 70% Dividend for the year 2003-2004 from Shri D.Datta, Chairman and Managing Director, WAPCOS in the presence of Shri V.K.Duggal, Secretary (Water Resources) and other senior officers of Ministry of Water Resources and WAPCOS here today. WAPCOS has recorded the highest ever turnover of Rs.6176 lakhs during the year 2003-2004 and posted a profit of Rs. 1077.67 lakhs against Rs.73.59 lakhs during the last year. The turnover achievement is 50% higher than the year 2002-2003 and gross margin is 739% higher than the previous year.
Water and Power Consultancy Services (India) Ltd. (WAPCOS) is a Mini Ratna Government of India Undertaking under the aegis of Union Ministry of Water Resources and is now recognized amongst the front rank International Consultancy Organisation of the World in Water Resources, Power & Infrastructure Development. WAPCOS is also accredited with ISO 9001:2000 certification by AFAQ-EAQA, UK for providing quality services. WAPCOS has forged ahead by securing new projects in Cambodia, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Mauritius, Bhutan, Mozambique, Eritrea and Afghanistan. The project value of the recently secured Salma Dam Project is Rs. 351 crores. WAPCOS is also actively providing consultancy services in all states of India.
WAPCOS has contributed to the cause of Nation Building since its inception in 1969 and has also remained at the forefront in the service of People in times of natural calamities. CMD, WAPCOS announced a contribution of Rs. 20 Lakhs to the Prime Ministers Relief Fund to render all possible help to the victims of Tsunami hit areas on the East Coast and the Anaman and Nicobar Islands. WAPCOS officers and staff have also contributed one days salary to the Prime Ministers Relief Fund.
