The Prime Miniater Dr. Manmohan Singh led the nation in paying floral tributes to Bharat Rattan Baba Sahib Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on his 49th Mahapari Nirwan Diwas at a function on the lawns of Parliament House this monrning. Other prominent leaders who offered floral tributes at the statue of Baba Saheb Dr. Ambedkar included the Speaker Shri Somnath Chatterjeee, Deputy Speaker Shri Charanjit Singh Atwal, Leader of the Opposition, the Chairperson of the National Advisory Council Smt. Sonia Gandhi, Shri L.K. Advani, Union Ministers Shri Shiv Raj Patil, Shri Ram Vilas Paswan, Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad, Smt. Meira Kumar, Shri Sunil Dutt and Smt. Shobhna Jagadeesan. Former Prime Minister Shri V.P. Singh, former Union Minister Dr. Satyanarayan Jatiya, several Members of Parliament and people from all walks of life also paid tributes to Baba Saheb.
Bodh Bhikshus rendered religious songs on the occasion.
