Indian Railways renewed a total of 2565 kilometres of tracks during the first half of the current financial year ending September 2004. This is five per cent more compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Renewal of such tracks was over due.
During the period, 623 rail bridges were rebuilt and rehabilitated.
