The inaugural Subroto Memorial Chess Championship between the three services is scheduled to be held from 17 Dec 2004 to 23 Dec 2004 at HQ WAC, IAF. The event is being conducted to commemorate 50th Anniversary of Air Marshal Subroto Mukherjee taking over as the first Indian Chief of the Air Staff.
The Championship would be held in two events viz: Team Championship and the individual championship. The team championship shall consists of the Army Red, Army Green, Navy and Air Force teams.
The championship will be conducted as per rules laid down by World Chess Federation (FIDE) and All Indian Chess Federation (AICF) as adopted by SSCB. This tournament would also serve as trials for selecting the services Chess Team for National Championship.
