In The civilian cadre of various offices under the Ministry of Defence, special recruitment drive to fill up backlog vacancies reserved for Schedule Castes and Scheduled Tribes has been launched throughout the country, including Madhya Pradesh, where such vacancies exist in accordance with Department of Personnel & Training order dated Aug 05, 2004. Appointment and selection to Armed Forces are made strictly on merit and no reservation on the basis of caste, community, area or class is provided. However, for recruitment in Army, wide publicity is being done in the remotest areas to attract tribals. Recruitment rallies in this regard have been held at Jabalpur, Mhow, Vidisha, Gwalior, Bhopal, in 2004 and other such rallies are scheduled to be held in Betul, Ujjain, Shivpuri and Seoni to cover areas in Madhya Pradesh in 2005.
The Coast Guard is also conducting Special Recruitment Drive for Scheduled Tribes. The state of Madhya Pradesh is covered by Coast Guard Regional Headquarters (West) situated at Mumbai.
Workers are being hired on contractual basis in various offices under the Ministry of Defence for carrying out certain works, which are not of perennial and critical nature. All security precautions are taken before any such worker is engaged against a job.
