scheme for information and communication technology at schools

Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs today gave its approval to the scheme of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at Schools. This is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme with an allocation of Rs.800 cr. During the X Plan and will cover 9380 Secondary and Higher Secondary Schools. Financing pattern of the scheme is 75% Centre and 25% State.

It will enable the widespread use of ICT at Schools, leading to enrichment of existing curriculum and pedagogy. The students will acquire necessary skills needed for both higher education and for gainful employment. A system of hosting and accessing quality education content on a nation-wise basis shall be established.
