The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), since its inception has fixed/revised the prices of 184 bulk drugs including the derivatives drugs. Out of these , in case of 115, the prices were revised downwards. Similarly, NPPA has fixed/revised the prices of 2658 formulation packs and out of these, in case of 1469 formulation packs, the prices were revised downwardly.
In accordance with the provisions of the Drugs (Prices Control) Order 1995, the NPPA fixes/revises prices of the drugs listed in its first schedule and formulations based thereon. In case, there is any violation of the approved/notified price of a scheduled formation, action is taken under the provisions of the DPCO ‘1995, .
This information was given by the Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers and Steel, Shri Ram Vilas Paswan in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today.
