In pursuance of the directions of the Hon’ble Supreme Court, an Expert Committee under the chairmanship of Director General, Archaeological Survey of India has been constituted regarding the conservation and repair works of the Red Fort. The proceedings of the Committee are in progress. No work in the Fort can be taken up without the written permission of the Committee.
The required conservation works of the Red Fort are under examination of the Committee. The necessary cost estimates will be worked out after approval of the works by the Expert Committee.
This information was given by Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Culture, Shri S. Jaipal Reddy in written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha today.
