railway minister’s new year message for railwaymen

The Union Minister of Railways Shri Lalu Prasad has greeted the Railwaymen and women across the country on the eve of the New Year 2005.

In his customary message to the 15 lakh strong railway workforce, the Minister referred to the recent unfortunate head-on-collision between two trains at Mukerian, Punjab, wherein 38 people died, exhorting them to ensure that such train accident caused by human failure should not recur. He urged them to be alert minded, responsive and attentive to their duty.

Talking of the unprecedented tragedy caused by earthquake triggered Tsunami, the Minister asked the railway employees to rise to the occasion and come forward to provide all aids in the form of relief and rehabilitation of the victims on a war footing and contribute to the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund to supplement the national efforts.

The Minister wished the Railway employees health, happiness and prosperity in the new year 2005.
