The estimated production of fertilizers during November 2004 was 17.61 lakh MT of urea and 4.60 lakh MT of DAP as against the target of 16.92 lakh MT and 5.72 lakh MT respectively. Cumulative production of urea during April-November 2004 remained 135.79 and 35.90 lakh MT against the target of 129.98 and 46.35 lakh MT. Thus, the production of urea exceeded its target during the period under review. During November 2004, 19.06 lakh MT urea was despatched to the States against the target of 18.70 lakh MT. Cumulative availability of urea during the current Rabi season by the end of November 2004 has been 45.28 lakh MT and availability was satisfactory in all the States. So far, no State has reported any shortage. Further, the sale of urea upto 30th November during Rabi 2004 , was 31.45 lakh MT which was higher by about 29 per cent as compared to the sale of 24.41 lakh MT in the corresponding period of the previous year.

As regards, decontrolled fertilizers, cumulative availability of DAP and MOP during the current Rabi season, by the end of November 2004, has been 22.36 lakh MT and 6.24 lakh MT respectively, which was adequate to meet the demand of the States. During the Month of November 2004, 1.90 lakh MT of urea, 1.77 lakh MT of DAP and 3.01 MT of MOP was imported to the country. The cumulative import of urea, DAP and MOP upto November 2004 during the year has been 5.39 lakh MT, 4.35 lakh MT and 20.66 lakh MT respectively.
