All the Railway Production Units performed well during the first half of the current financial year ending September, 2004 with three of them exceeding the target.
The Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW), Chittaranjan, produced 19 electric locomotives against the target of 16, the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, 469 coaches against the target of 461 coaches and the Rail Wheel Factory, (RWF), Bangalore,, 60004 wheels against the target of 59950 and 27986 axles against the target of 27929. The Diesel Modernisation Works (DMW), Patiala, just met the target by rebuilding 36 diesel locomotives.
The Diesel Locomotives Works (DLW),Varanasi, and the Rail Coach factory, (RCF), Kapurthala, fell short of the target. The DLW rolled out 53 diesel locomotives against the target of 57 and the RCF 521 coaches against the target of 527.
During September, the production of wagons took a major leap with the production of 1590 wagons against the target of 1000.
