A Narrow Gauge Rail Museum at Nagpur to cater for preservation of all Narrow Gauge heritage of Indian Railways has been set up. A proposal for setting up a regional rail museum at Pune is also under consideration to cater to the rail heritage of the western region of the country.
The museum at Nagpur was opened in December 2002. As the museum at Pune is in the planning state at present, no time frame for its opening can be given at this stage.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Railways Shri R. Velu a written reply to a question from Smt. (Saw.) Kalpana Ramesh Narhire in the Lok Sabha today.
