Friday, December 03, 2004

Accepting the assurance of the Government of India to hold intensive and undisturbed peace negotiations, the collective leadership of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland(Isak-Muivah) will be arriving in India this Sunday. This is in pursuance of the invitation extended to them by the Government in Bangkok in October this year.

Committed to the peace process, the Government of India has been engaged in political negotiations only with the NSCN(I/M). It will continue to do so to arrive at a mutually acceptable negotiated settlement of the Naga issue. The Government is committed to a satisfactory conclusion of the Naga peace process with the NSCN(I/M) without disturbance from any quarter.

The visit of the NSCN(I/M) leaders to India will facilitate the ongoing peace process through a detailed and sustained dialogue necessary to resolve the Naga issue. The Government looks forward to the visit.
