notice to hospitals for non-compliance of bio-medical waste

The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has issued show cause notices to hospitals in Delhi for non-compliance of Bio-Medical Waste (Management and Handling) Rules, 1998. These include: Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute, Swami Dayanand Hospital (Shahdara), Chark Palika Hospital, Hindu Rao Hospital, Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital, Maharaja Agersen Hospital, MGS Hospital (West Punjabi Bagh), All India Instutute of Medical Sciences, Deen Dayal Upadhaya Hospital (Hari Nagar), ESI Hospital (Jhillmill), Lady Harding Medical College & Associated Hospitals, Saroj Hospital (Rohini) and ESI Hospital (Basidarapur). The DPCC has reported that these hospitals are taking necessary corrective measures in response to the notices issued to them.

This information was given by the Minister of State for Environment And Forests Shri Namo Narain Meena in a written reply to a question from Members of Parliament Shri Amar Singh and Shri Lalit Suri in the Rajya Sabha today.
