To clear the additional rush and to avoid long queues at the reservation centres during the rush periods including festival seasons, additional counters are opened. Besides, the facility of book through mobile phones and internet has also been started to reduce the rush at reservation centres. Moreover, Passenger Reservation Systems (PRS) centres have been opened at 226 locations since April, 2003.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Railway Shri R. Velu in a written reply to a question from Prof. Mahadeorao Shiwankar in the Lok Sabha today.
