The Lok Sabha was told that the National Commission for Minorities have not submitted any Draft Legislation from their side for formulating a new law to contain communal violence in the country. It is not correct that the Commission is of the view that it is the minorities which have mostly suffered in the communal riots that have taken place so far in the country.
Clarifying the position in the House the Minister of State for Home, Shri Sriprakash Jaiswal said that a draft bill to enact a comprehensive law to deal with communal violence is under preparation. The bill is likely to be introduced in Parliament during the forthcoming Budget Session after wider consultations.
