The following Statement was made by the Home Minister, Shri Shivraj Patil in the Lok Sabha today regarding the Memorandum of Settlement signed with the National Liberation Front of Tripura:
“On December 17th, 2004, a Memorandum of Settlement has been signed between the Government of India, the Government of Tripura and the National Liberation Front of Tripura (Nayan Bashi Group). The agreement provides that NLFT (NB) will abjure violence, surrender their weapons and join the mainstream by December 25th, 2004. Government has agreed to provide special funds for development of tribal areas & special rehabilitation package for all NLFT (NB) returnees”.
