joint statement on director general level talks between ncb india and anf pakistan held on 13-14 december 2004

The Sixth Director General level talks between the Narcotics Control Bureau of India and Anti Narcotics Force of Pakistan were held on 13-14 December 2004 at New Delhi to discuss bilateral cooperation in drug related matters. The Pakistan delegation was led by Maj. Gen. Nadeem Ahmed, Director General, ANF, Pakistan and the Indian delegation was led by Mr. Swaraj Puri, Director General, NCB.

The Pakistan delegation called on Mr. Shivraj Patil, Hon’ble Union Home Minister. The talks were held in a cordial & constructive atmosphere. Both sides positively engaged with each other on issues relating to the trafficking of drugs, psychotropics and precursor chemicals and means of enhancing bilateral cooperation in exchange of information and operational intelligence.

Pursuant to a decision taken at the Secretaries level meeting in August 2004 for institutionalizing agency to agency cooperation, both sides exchanged a draft Memorandum of Understanding on drug related matters. It was agreed that the next DG level talks would be held in Pakistan in June 2005 on mutually convenient dates to be decided through diplomatic channels.
