As part of year long celebrations of First Indian Chief of the Air Staff Air Marshal Subroto Mukherjee, the Inaugural Subroto Mukherjee Memorial Services Chess Tournament was inaugurated by the Chief of the Air Staff designate Air Marshal SP Tyagi PVSM AVSM VM ADC, AOC-in-C Western Air Command, at Subroto Park, New Delhi. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the participant chess players from all the three Services, dignitaries from all the three services including Air Marshal AK Singh AVSM VM VSM, SASO, HQ WAC, IAF. The tournament scheduled from 17-23 Dee 2004, comprises of teams from Army, Navy & Air Force with the aim of selecting the best players amongst services to represent services at national championship. The event would be concluded on 23 Dec 2004.
