Duty Entitlement Pass Book Scheme, an Export promotion Scheme administered under the Foreign Trade Policy neutralizes the incidence of customs duty on the import content of the export product. The quantum of exports depend on many factors and DEPB is just one of such factors. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has not undertaken any study on lowering of DEPB rates on the exports.

Details of the quantity and value of items like silk, handicrafts and other garments exported during the last 2 years are contained in the publication ‘Monthly Statistics of Foreign Trade of India Vol. I (Exports) – Annual Number’ published by the Director General of Commercial Intelligence and Statistics (DGCI&S).

This was stated by Shri E.V.K.S. Elangovan, Minister of State for Commerce and Industry, in a written reply here today in the Lok Sabha.
