The Vigilance Telecom Monitoring Cell of Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Punjab Police have busted one illegal telephone exchange which was routing international calls in Ludhiana. The DoT team and the Local Police swung into action as soon as they received a call on the toll free telephone number 1600-110-420 leading to the crack down of the illegal set up which was operating from the premises in the Feroz Gandhi Market area, owned by one Fast Track Courier in the city.
The raiding team found the illegal set up at the premises was found making calls round the clock. After tracing he cables/dropwire, it was found that the 19 telephone lines of HFCL (Connect) were diverted to another premises adjoining. Equipment like VoIP Gateway (Quintum Make), DSL Router, LAN switch were found in live condition.
The Local Police have arrested one person who was found present in the premises and registered an FIR against him as also the Fast Track Courier, Ludhiana. The police have seized all the equipment used in the set up and are further investigating the involvement of other partners in India and abroad.
