In a series of unearthing illegal exchanges, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has once again come out successful in busting an illegal exchange in Guntur (Andhra Pradesh). In the present case it was found that the illegal set up was being operated by using high-tech equipment, two BSNL land lines, two TATA Indicom landlines and 64 kbps Leased Line from ‘My Guru Online’, an internet service provider operating in the town. The Police have seized all the equipments and arrested one person and registered a case under relevant sections of IPC and Indian Telegraph Act.
It may be recalled that the DoT has recently set up of Regional Vigilance Telecom Monitoring Cells at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad to detect the illegal international calls and illegal set-ups operating from various parts of the country. Further the Department has provided Toll free numbers- 1600-110-420 or 011-2373-1100 for the general public to pass on the information about the grey international calls.
