As a follow- up to the Prime Minister's assurance during his visit to the North East last month, Guwahati is being placed on the international air map. Indian Airlines will begin flights on the Guwahati - Bangkok sector from January 1, 2005. The Airbus (A-320) twice-weekly flight will fly Kolkata - Guwahati - Bangkok and return.
The flights to Bangkok will be on Thursdays and Saturdays and the return to Guwahati will be on Mondays and Fridays. And the inaugural Guwahati- Bangkok flight will take off on Saturday, January 1, 2005.
