Tenth Five Year Plan (2002-2007) includes Railways comprehensive perspective plan, projected growth of passenger traffic and capacity enhancement for the period 2002-2007.
A mid-term appraisal of the Tenth Five Year Plan has been undertaken by the Planning Commission in order to reassess the projected growth of traffic, capacity augmentation and other requirements. Indian Railways have indicated 3 per cent growth of passenger traffic during the remaining three years of the Tenth Five Year Plan. Capacity augmentation to take care of the projected growth of traffic has also been accordingly planned.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Railways, Shri R. Velu, in a written reply to a question from Shri Prabodh Panda in the Lok Sabha today.
