enactment of legislation to regulate and develop the profession of actuaries

The Union Cabinet today gave its approval for establishment of the Institute of Actuaries of India and for introduction of the Actuaries Bill, 2004 in the Parliament. The Bill proposes to establish the Institute of Actuaries of India as a professional body, having a statutory character on the same lines as those for the professions of Chartered Accountants, Cost and Works Accountants and Company Secretaries.
