The Government intends to provide electricity to the unelectrified villages located in the remote and inaccessible areas of the country. These are clusters which could not be economically connected through the conventional grid power. Hence they will be provided power through non-conventional energy sources. An enabling provision has been made in the Electricity Act, 2003 for this purpose. Accordingly, these villages will be connected through renewable or non-conventional sources of energy.
