UREA

Assessed requirement of urea for Rabi 2004-05 is 108.35 lakh MT. As against this requirement, about 117 lakh MT is estimated to be available in the season. Already 45 lakh MT has been made available to States/UTs upto 30.11.2004 as against the requirement of 34 lakh MT and reported sales of 31 lakh MT.


DAP


Assessed requirement of DAP for Rabi 2004-05 is 39.4 lakh MT. As against this requirement, about 46 lakh MT is estimated to be available in the season. Already 23.4 lakh MT has been made available to States/UTs upto 30.11.2004 as against the requirement of 22.9 lakh MT and reported sales of 20.7 lakh MT.


MOP


Assessed requirement of MOP for Rabi 2004-05 is 12.37 lakh MT. Already 6.25 lakh MT has been made available to States/UTs upto 30.11.2004 as against the requirement of 5.46 lakh MT and reported sales of 4.08 lakh MT. Adequate imports are being made to meet the Rabi requirement.


Sale of urea and DAP in the first two months of the season have registered a 29% and 15% growth respectively over the corresponding period of last year indicating a satisfactory level of availability. As seen from above, adequate availability is being ensured.


Management of fertilizer distribution at the State level and below is a function of the State Government which is armed with powers under the Fertilizer (Control) Order (FCO).
